The World at Night

A composite of photos. Things of interest in this image, include the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Nile, the positions of both being visible due to the large numbers of towns and cities located alongside each.

Also visible, is proof of the failure of communism (look at North versus South Korea).

Sub-Saharan Africa is very dark, apart from South Africa. No coincidence there.

London at night

You can see the ring that is the M25 encirling the huge city of London, where I live.

Andromeda, a nearby galaxy. I remember looking at this as a child, through binoculars, and being utterly fascinated that the light I was seeing had set out from the galaxy 2 million years ago, while modern man had not yet evolved.

This really is the last one I'll make.

Swirly

Star.

The illusion of infinity, like two mirrors facing each other......

Making these is addictive.....

Last one ever.

Hmmmm......

Yet another fractal that I have made.

Here is another one that I've just done.......

An image I've made using fractal algorithms

Donnie Darko

I saw this film today. One of the most profound, surreal, thought-provoking, satirical and all-round brilliant films I've ever seen in my entire life.

It's from 2001, but I'd never even heard of it before today.

Anyway, rent it. It's amazing.

The Idea of Death

This is strange when you think about it:

I can't rememeber when I discovered that I was one day going to die.
I don't rememeber the point in my life when I realized that life was finite, and that no-one was immortal.

Everyone that I've talked to about this can't rememeber that point either.

Obviously it must occur early in childhood, but, even so, you would think that finding out that your life would not last forever, would be so memorable that you would never forget when you first figured this out.

But appearently it isn't so.
